I first visited Colorado over New Years in 2008 and completely fell in love with the state. Now after almost seven years of begging my husband to move from Georgia to Colorado, the reality of what is about to be is almost too much to contain. We sold our house, quit our jobs and have helped my mother-in-law (who moved to Florida) sell hers. Now, today is closing day on her house and moving day for us. Our bags have been packed, friends hugged and goodbye moments have been taken in, and still the reality of what is about to happen escapes me. I am just hours of way from one of the craziest things I have ever convinced myself and anyone else to do. I have moved overseas with my family, taken some amazing vacations, convinced friends to wade out on adventures, but all with a careful plan in hand.
Today, right now, we are just leaving. That’s it, just driving off to start over somewhere new. We are fortunate enough that we have a temporary home with my Aunt and Uncle. I know several people, who now call Colorado home, but we have no jobs, we have no clue where we want to look for a home and I couldn’t be happier. The adventure that is about to unfold will truly be once in a lifetime.
Did I mention we are driving out there…in a 26 foot UHAUL truck… with our Pathfinder on a dolly behind it? Oh, yeah that means my husband, myself and our two large fur children will be in the cab of the truck for the good part of three days! I am hoping this will be one of those; what were we thinking now, but we can look back and laugh about it later, kind of decisions.
For now we will just have to wait and see. Check back to see more updates about the Colorado Project and our crazy move across country!
