The Last baby Bird Is Pushed Out Of The Nest

Class of 2014

Class of 2014

Earlier this month my baby sister graduated from college. I am so proud of her. Not because she graduated magna cum laude from a good University, not because she managed to major in journalism and get a minor in French and not even because she had an awesome job at the school’s wildlife center. I am proud of her because she will now get to enter the world of reality and see what we have all been talking about!

The reality that her college degree, which she worked so hard for, may not have anything to do with the first job she lands (or ever in her career). The reality that paying for a place to live means more than just rent and everything has a price. The reality that a forty hour work week is never forty hours.

So my dear baby sister, I am so proud of you! I am very proud of everything you have accomplished in your life up to now and all the things you are hoping to accomplish. I am proud that you are looking ahead to your future and have a better grasp than most on what is to come. But even more importantly, I am proud to welcome you to the reality of life after college! I know you will work just as hard to be as successful now as you always have.

I love you, Congratulations!!!
